How to read the numbers
Hardness is scratch resistance
The Mohs scale is not linear, so a score of 10 is not simply a small percentage harder than 9.25. Hardness describes resistance to scratching; it does not measure every kind of durability or guarantee that a stone cannot chip, loosen, or suffer damage in a setting.
Dispersion describes fire

Refractive index is not a sparkle score

Why a photograph cannot identify the stone
In GQ's May 5, 2022 jewelry feature on Coi Leray, the publication describes a diamond “Coi” pendant chain. What is diamond?
